PRE-TREATMENT WITH HYDROPHOBIC POLYPROPYLENE
FILTER CARTRIDGES
INTRODUCTION
The hydrophobic polypropylene media is 100% pure polypropylene which
provides maximum chemical compatibility, performance and economy
in controlling contaminants in critical processes. Its pure media
is made by a proprietary process which produces a highly porous
structure that is NATURALLY HYDROPHOBIC. This means that it:
- Repels moisture and water
- Has excellent petroleum base, hydrocarbon and solvent resistant
characteristics
- Will not lose its hydrophobicity while in use
- Is a natural barrier to water without the use of additives or
surface modifying agents which can leach or wash out
HYDROPHILIC:
Has an affinity for water and attracts it strongly. A hydrophilic
filter can be wetted with virtually any liquid.
HYDROPHOBIC:
Repels water. Hydrophobic filters cannot be wetted by aqueous solutions
or by liquids with high surface tensions without first prewetting
with agents of low surface tension such as alcohol, or by subjecting
it to high pressure. Hydrophobic filters are best suited for hydrocarbons. |
